BOP Zone Athletics

The BOP Zone Athletics for Year 7 & 8's was held at the Tauranga Domain on 23 November in stormy conditions, but the showers were infrequent enough to get the competition done. The place-getters from Katikati College Athletics Day back in Term 1 qualified to attend this interschool competition. Some very good results considering many had not had much recent practice at their athletic events. Huge thanks to teacher Nicky Walter who took them all for some refresher training on the back field in the weeks leading up to the competition.Top results

JUNIOR VOLLEYBALL

It's been a huge term for our Junior volleyball teams. Fantastic to have 2 girls teams and a boys team competing in all the local competitions.  All three teams play in the Tuesday night Tauranga Volleyball league, competed in the BOP Volleyball Championships over 3 weekends and also entered the North Island Secondary Schools Championships played in Tauranga over 4 days at the end of November. Some great volleyball was played and every team improved every single game individually and as a team, leaving them well placed to trial for the Senior teams in Term 1.

The final tournament was the Thames Valley Secondary Schools Junior Champs, played at KKC on Monday 28 November which was a perfect finale as the Junior A Girls won the day, with the Junior B team coming in second only losing to the A team. The boys cleaned up as well, winning all their games. Thanks to everyone involved with Junior Volleyball in particular our coaches, Mel Christophers, Chantelle Wenzlick, Meghann Fraser and Indee Mackay and our managers Sarah Quilty and Jane Ellery.
