Food Technology and Hospitality

Karyn Williams —

It's been busy and full on in the Food Technology and Hospitality kitchen since returning from lock down.

The Year 9 Food tech students are currently working on a cafe unit which saw their invited guests made up of staff and family eating a delicious lunch on June 30.

The Year 10s have been trialling homemade ice creams and different biscuits to develop an ice cream sandwich. There are certainly some creative ideas and flavours being developed here. Students presented their final outcome to guest judges on June 25.

The Level One and Two hospitality students have been busy working away on assessments and also selling lunches to the staff weekly in the way of soup, warm winter salads and roasted beef sandwiches. All these are credit based and the bonus is that any profit made goes back into our Hospitality kitty. We have also been working on the importance of presentation of food to the hospitality standard. Students get to be creative here and the results are awesome.
