Barber Career Trip

Kathryn O'Sullivan —

Ten Year 10-13 students visited Mr Barber in Central Auckland during Term 3. The aim of the trip was to expose the young men to the opportunities offered by taking on a career as a barber.

Mr Barber has been running since 2000 and has developed a reputable name. It provides the opportunity to learn barbering skills and techniqes from some of the best barbers in the country.

Our students were able to talk to current students and tutors about what the course involved. The course starts with 12 weeks of on site training with theoretical and practical components. Following this students are placed at Barbers around the country to get practical experience before coming back to complete a final assessment at the school. Our students really enjoyed the experience, some were thinking seriously about it as a potential future for them.
