1st XI Girls' Hockey

Sandy Kindley —

Katikati College 1st X1 Girls’ Hockey team competed in the Mary Clinton Secondary schools' hockey tournament in Gisborne recently.

Fifteen teams participated in four pools. Player of the tournament was Tara MacPherson who stepped up and played outstanding hockey throughout the week. This excellent result is a culmination of years of dedication and training. It is also a consequence of the growth of hockey at Katikati College enabling depth in the team squad. Younger players Ariana Temple, Dakota Eade, Gemma Donaldson and Margaret Sukkel all responded well to this next level and the team played the best hockey of their lives. The team will lose a number of senior players next year but they have left the team with lasting memories of belief and success.  A big thank you to Wendy Bradley and Jillian Tran Van for their support and commitment to the girls throughout the week. Also a big thank you to all our supporters who made the journey to Gisborne to watch us in the final.
