4 years ago, Technology teacher Graeme Vallely, introduced a unit of work where his Year 12 Carpentry students undertake a project in giving back to the school. In the past they have built a rugby equipment shed, made picnic tables and built some raised garden beds for our Food Technology and Horticulture departments.

This year we chose to undertake the restoration of our Katikati College sign which has stood proudly outside the school for a number of years. The sign was uplifted midway through term 2 and many hours were spent stripping, sanding, filling cracks and inlaying new timber to replace what was rotten. On Friday, 25 August the sign was reinstalled and the difference is remarkable!.

Each year the students take great pride in what they have achieved and this year more than ever as the sign is a very visible part of our school.
