Sports Science and Outdoor Ed
Tough Guy/Tough Gal: Year 12 and 13 Sport Science students headed off to Lakes Ranch in Rotorua to tackle the mud, water and hills. This challenging 6km course was designed to test them while they worked to gain their performance achievement standard. This is definitely the messiest way to gain NCEA credits!
Year 12 OED RAFTING AND MOUNTAIN BIKING: After a very soggy Term 2, our Year 12 Outdoor Education students have finally been able to get into the outdoors. They started with rafting the Kaituna River including Tutea Falls, a 7 metre drop and the largest commercially rafted waterfall in the world. Last week they braved the rain and headed for the mountain biking trails in the Redwoods at Whakarewarewa Forest. They are heading back in Term 4 to finish off their assessment, and hoping for blue skies next time around!
