Katikati brings home the gold!

For the last 12 years the Katikati Concert Band has been competing at the Matamata Festival. This event includes bands from all over the Bay, Waikato and Auckland.

Three years ago the Katikati entry became the Katikati Combined Concert Band, merging the Katikati Concert Band and the Katikati College Concert Band into one large band. In 2015 and 2016 the group won a Bronze medal and this year, to everyone’s delight, they won the first Gold medal achieved by Katikati at this competition.

The Band played Mambo Greats, Oblivion with Billie Fleming as the soloist and finished with Pirates of the Caribbean. This is a tribute to the dedication and hard work by all.
