Staffing Changes

Neil Harray —

Term 3 has seen quite a few staffing changes occur. Mrs Vanessa Moodie has been seconded to two organisations for the remainder of this year. The first is to help facilitate Kia Eke Panuku through the Ministry of Education Professional Learning contractor Te Whare Wānanga o Awanui ā Rangi. She has also been seconded by the Ministry of Education to work for the Positive Behaviour for Learning Programme. Mrs Moodie has certainly obtained a number of skills in these areas in recent years and this is excellent acknowledgement of the leadership she has shown within this sector of education. Part of her role at Katikati College is Year 10 Dean. Mr Graeme Vallely will be taking on this position for the remainder of 2016 and I know he is extremely keen and enthusiastic to learn more about this role and help support our students. Mr Stan Foster has been appointed in a long term relieving position to cover Mrs Moodie’s classes during this time. A very experienced teacher, we welcome Mr Foster to our staff and community as he has recently moved to the area. We are very lucky to have someone of his experience to fill this position.

We also have a number of staff away for a variety of reasons and periods of time. Once again we are very fortunate to have outstanding teachers available to relieve in these positions. I would like to welcome Mrs Hayley George, a new reliever to our school, who will be working with 9BES initially and also across a number of other classes. As always we are very fortunate to have a very experienced group of relievers who know our school well and help support in other areas – Mrs Kay James, Ms Stephanie Duncan and Mrs Virginia Gordon and Amanda Besley will be stepping in to various roles throughout this term. Having such experienced and well regarded teachers available in our community certainly helps during these times.
