As Academic Captains for the 2016 year Jacob Pfennig and Caleb Ibbotson have many plans around increasing the academic awareness and events of the school.

This gives us an opportunity to blaze the trail for other captains in the years to come as well as setting the bar high for them to follow up.

So far this term we have been promoting a WW1 writing competition run by the Katikati museum and we are also trying to incorporate house points into the academic extracurricular activities and competitions. We also plan on promoting many academic competitions such as the ICAS English , Science, Mathematics. Our other plans include beginning an academic assistance program for helping students in their studies and will be run by year 12-13 students. It will be aimed towards not only helping study for NCEA internals but also any students needing help from year 7 up, this will run mostly during lunchtimes however other plans can be made outside of school.
