Fantastic speech finals
Both senior and junior speech finals were held at the end of Term 3, finishing the "speech year" on a high note.
Senior students had a limited time to prepare a two minute impromptu speech on a topic selected from a list. The speeches were fantastic and ranged from gay education, apps that will change the world, genetic modification, to the over-population of our world.
Placements were:
First overall: Maddie Schnackenberg
Second overall: Jess Meade
Third overall: Rory Robertson
Year 11: 1st Rory Robertson, 2nd Grace Fotheringhame
Year 12: 1st Jess Meade, 2nd Isobel Carver, 3rd Morgan Brass
Year 13: 1st Maddie Schnackenberg, 2nd Phoebe Robertson, 3rd Lucy Gibson
First overall won a $30 voucher to spend at their leisure - happy shopping Maddie and well done. Please remember us when your APP makes you millions. A big thank you to our wonderful adjudicator Mrs Sushames.
The Year 9 and 10 speech finals were well worth the wait. These speeches were prepared on a topic of choice, or from a list of provided topics that staff and students had co-constructed.
The final placings were:
Year 9: 1st Lily Crowley, 2nd Isla Willacy, 3rd Jorja McKeown
Year 10: 1st Ariana Bluegum, 2nd = Naaz Hasan, Eva Freeman and Abhhi Modi
First place received a $30 voucher and a cup to be presentedat prizegiving. Lily spoke with humour and knowledge on how birth order defines us. Ariana challenged us on looking at the process of colonisation through a Māori lens.
Well done to all these students.
