Katikati College sent a large team of 41 students to compete at the next level of Athletics at the Thames Valley Champs in Paeroa.

The team represented our school really well with fantastic performances on the track and field. The two standout athletes were Roelien Du Plessis and Margaret Sukkel who both showed the results of a summer of excellent training and earned themselves two 1st place finishes on the track.  All top 3 placings went through to compete at the Waikato BOP Champs at Porritt Stadium on March 19th which was a huge event for these athletes - results will be in our next newsletter.

Congratulations to the following place-getters who are in the top 3 in the region:

Junior Boys:

  • Daley Maguire  - 2nd 200m, 2nd 100m, 3rd Long Jump
  • Filipe Vakasiuola  - 3rd Shot Put
  • Tesimoni Uilou - 2nd Triple Jump

Junior Girls:

  • Sally Carter - 2nd 200m
  • Trinity Nikora - 2nd High Jump
  • Sophia Spurr - 3rd 800m

Intermediate Boys:

  • Tanner Hayes  - 2nd 800m, 3rd 400m
  • Ethan Lal  - 3rd Long Jump

Intermediate Girls:

  • Margaret Sukkel  - 1st 200m, 1st 100m, 2nd Long Jump
  • Roelien Du Plessis  - 1st 800m, 1st 1500m

Senior Boys:

  • Uliti Uilou - 1st Shot Put, 2nd Javelin
  • Nathan Davies - 3rd Shot Put

Senior Girls:

  • Lose Uilou - 2nd Shot Put
  • Estelle Wallis - 3rd Shot Put, 2nd Discus, 3rd Javelin
  • Abby Lusby - 3rd 100m, 3rd Long Jump
  • Monique van Loon - 3rd 1500m
