Ultimate Day

Peter Besley —

Katikati College was represented by junior and senior boys teams at the Waikato Schools Ultimate Day held at the University of Waikato on September 5.

Ultimate is a non-contact sport played with a frisbee - it's also a bit like a combination of football and basketball. Can't imagine that? See it at the next Olympic Games!

Both teams made their way to the quarter finals and put in some really good performances against schools from Hamilton and Auckland. The junior boys held their own against the eventual winners of the tournament with tired legs and competing against teams with more substitutes being the telling factors at the end of the day. This is the second tournament for these boys and they continue to improve. They will look to perhaps in the Secondary Schools Championships in March next year. Thanks to parents Andrea Scatchard and Peter Nicholson for helping out with transport for the day.

The teams were:

Junior Boys: Sean Nicholson, Daniel Nicholson, Anton Byford, Ayerton Hodson, Eli Brydon, Depp Bolingford, Zach Arundel, Luke Spurr.

Senior Boys: Dan Astwood, Flynn Sunderland, Paul van Loon, Brecon Cameron, Zen Carter, Jack Davison, Otis Burrell-Emery.
