EducationPerfect Science Championships.

Katikati College was placed first in the world for a school of its size and second in New Zealand overall in the annual 2017 EducationPerfect Science Championships. We were also 8th in the world out of the 1,281 schools entered in the international competition.

Year 9 and 10 students took part in the week-long online competition in which they answered questions from all aspects of Science, earning points for those they answered correctly. This year schools from 24 countries participated.

One hundred Katikati College students were awarded certificates for achieving over 500 points, with one student, Rory Robertson, receiving an Elite Award for achieving over 10,000 points. There were only 194 Elite award winners in the competition. Thirteen students gained Gold (3,000 points), 12 Silver (2,000) and 29 Bronze (1,000).
