Pin’d Creative Showcase

Robyn Cameron —

This is our local Bay of Plenty fashion and design competition, run by a committee of teachers, for our students to showcase their amazing work to families, friends and the general public.

This year, nine girls from Years 10 to 13 at Katikati College entered the event that was held on August 11 at Baycourt in Tauranga. Each garment was judged before the show on how it met the section theme, the suitability of techniques used and its creativity or "wow" factor. There were additional awards for workmanship.

Katikati College results were as follows:

Olivia Brooks in Year 13 gained second place in the Parent and Child section which was open to all ages and the public.

Gabby Ross in Year 10 was shortlisted for her workmanship, meaning her sewing skills put her in the top four from 120 junior entries .

All the other students who entered scored well and and had a great experience. This has inspired them to start looking towards next year's competition with enthusiasm.

Congratulations to our students.
