Health speaker visit

Sandy Kindley —

Students in Years 9-13 recently enjoyed entertaining and thought provoking presentations by Liz Harrex from "Attitude".

The following health issues were explored:

Year 9 ‘Online safety and citizenship’. This addressed text bullying, online addiction and cyber safety.

Year 10 ‘Attitude’' offered practical advice on how to get through the hard chapters of life and delivered the ‘life messages’ teenagers need to grow mental and emotional resilience.

Year 11's presentation addressed the issues that cause people to develop habits, and gave ideas on how to assess risks, make positive decisions, deal with peer pressure and overcome addictions.

Year 12 and 13’s ‘Sex with attitude’ presentation covered how to build and maintain healthy relationships, offering ideas on dealing with peer pressure and coping with break-ups.

In Health classes at Year 9 and 10 we are reinforcing these messages with units of work.
