Katikati College sent the two Senior A teams down to Palmerston North for the week of March 19 to compete at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Championships.

Excellent results in the Baywide Championships meant that both girls' and boys' sides had qualified to play in the top division as one of the best 32 teams in the country. The level of competition was extremely tough as some of the biggest schools in the country battled it out for top honours. The girls managed two wins and the boys one, but every game was very competitive with close sets. After a fantastic week , the girls finished in 32nd and the boys in 30th position nationally. Ashley Shanley was awarded MVP for the girls team and Shaun Coxhead MVP for the boys team. Katikati College would like to thank the two coaches, Simon Quin and Patrick Russell, for all the hard work they put into taking the two teams away for the week.
