New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country

Angela Macdonald —

Congratulations to Dakota Eade who recently competed in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country in Christchurch.

Dakota was placed 71st out of 108 competitors which is a wonderful achievement following her qualifying achievements of: 1st at Katikati College; 2nd at Thames Valley; 12th at Waikato / Bay of Plenty.

Dakota said it was a very bumpy and windy course. The race was hard and fast with girls coming in clusters and within only split-seconds of each other.

Dakota was only 2:20 minutes behind the winner, Charli Miller, who breaks records all over New Zealand and is constantly in races and triathlons etc. Dakota also plays hockey for the 1st and 2nd teams and Netball for the Senior B. Participating in the Nationals has shown Dakota that with training she has the potential to do very well and she has plans to start training in the summer to prepare for next year.

Well done Dakota on a great achievement.
