Neil Harray —

Kia Ora Parents and Friends of Katikati College,

Term One continues to be a very busy and rewarding term for lots of our students. As you will no doubt be aware there has been a large number of camps, field trips and sporting activities that our students have been involved in recently. Once again our school has enjoyed a large number of successes and those students attending camps were a real credit to their families and to the school. Of course these events could not happen without the generous help from not only a number of parents but also staff who take time out of their personal lives to supervise and organise these activities. However, when students are involved in off campus activities, it is most important that they catch up on any missed work. While this does create more work for our students, it is essential that they keep the flow of lessons going at school. If students can talk to their teachers and preplan as much as possible, it will be easier for everyone to keep up with their classroom workload.

We have received lots of positive feedback for our new system of fortnightly engagement reporting. While the system continues to be refined, certainly the early indications are that we are able to provide much more immediate feedback about a student’s progress in class. Please remember that a ‘3’ on these reports is an indication that things are going well.

Thank you very much to those people who provided feedback around our uniform. There are lots of commonalities in the feedback and this has been included in the Tender documents that will go out very shortly. With changes, especially in things like fabric technology, it will be interesting to see what the potential suppliers come back to us with in terms of solutions to problems with our existing uniform or suggestions for new uniform items.

Nga mihi
