On the 26 February Year 12 and 13 students visited Western Orchards on Matahui Road, hosted by local kiwifruit grower Sean Carnachan. Students explored working orchards, learning about red and gold kiwifruit, and even got to taste some delicious red kiwifruit. Sean shared insights on soil types, growing techniques, marketing, and the role of Zespri, as well as challenges like PSA and job opportunities for locals and seasonal workers. With fantastic weather, it was a great day of hands-on learning about the kiwifruit industry.
