Late last year the Year 9 Art class teamed up to create an entry for the Katch Katikati Upcycled Christmas Tree Competion, and they won.

They used old vinyl records; Nana Maskouri, John Denver and Roger Whittaker, among many other old favourites. It took several days of painting an individual masterpiece on a record then after gentle heating in an oven it was bent into an interesting shape. These were mounted on a used piece of plywood shaped as tree.Every part of the project utilised preused materials.The judges loved the tree's overall impact, design innovation and cheerfulness.This is the second time Katikati College has won this fun award. We are looking forward to Christmas time again already.
