The image integrates the idea of peace and goodwill as we enter the festive season. The linking of the map of New Zealand within the traditional peace symbol makes up the pupil of an eye - hence " EYE SEE PEACE".

Watties Cans for Good

Peter Besley —

Watties Cans for Good, hosted by the Salvation Army of New Zealand, was the beneficiary of a recent mufti day, in which students donated a can of food rather than the traditional ‘gold coin’.

863 cans  were collected.  Our school roll is 853 and with 90 students away on the day, that represents more than one can per student. Watties will match this collection ‘can for can’ so that means upwards of 1600 cans can be given to local families in need.

Another aspect to the can collection is a ‘can creation’ competition.

9Bes and the Year 8 Future Thinkers group designed and built an ‘EYE SEE PEACE’ creation out of the cans collected.   Watties loved our creation and the Katikati College entry was selected as one of the runner up prize winners!
