University of Waikato Tauranga campus news

Gaylia Bundle —

Read on for an update on transport and accommodation options.

Transport Options

The University in Tauranga has been successful in establishing two new bus/shuttle services to connect students with the Tauranga campus so far this year. These include a subsidised bus to and from Katikati at $2 a trip (also used by Toi Ohomai students) and a Kaimai shuttle service between the Hamilton and Tauranga campuses which is completely free of charge. Both of these appear to be being utilised well, especially the Kaimai shuttle which is providing increased options for students who wish to be based in and around Tauranga but want to take papers offered in Hamilton. Other options connecting us to the EBOP and to Rotorua are continuing to be worked upon between ourselves, Toi Ohomai and the BOPRC.

Accommodation Options

While it does not yet have halls of residence in Tauranga, the University does have shared apartment accommodation sites for the first time this year. These are at two sites; on Durham Street itself and also just off 15th Ave at Mayfair Court. With very reasonable central city rates and plenty of vacancies still available, these are both really great options for those looking to be located close to campus.
