On May 20 members of the Katikati College Concert Band and the Katikati Concert Band teamed up to perform at the Matamata Festival. Forty two students and adults entered the stage to compete against some very big bands from Pukekohe, North Shore, Waikato, Matamata and Rotorua, and for their efforts won a silver medal. The music programme consisted of highlights from "Sing", "Carmina Burena" and "The Armed Man" and finished with "Music for the Darkened Theatre". The  medal was well earned and consoled band members on the long trip home when they were diverted to Roturua due to a crash on the Kaimais. A big thank you to all the students' families who supported the event and ferried students to all the weekend rehearsals.
