The 2017 Bay of Plenty Secondary School Ski and Snowboard Championships at Turoa Ski Field went off without a hitch, giving the students a chance to showcase their skills in the snow.

KKC's sole entrant Stella Hamilton-Wallace competed in the Snowboard event. Stella pulled out on her first run​ in the Giant Slalom​ logging a DSQ but then completed the fastest time of the event on her second run​ in 40.77. Unfortunately​ the first failed run meant she could only finish with Bronze but to be the fastest on the slope was a fantastic achievement. ​She then competed in Slope Style and with a score of 47 took out the Silver. Congratulations Stella!​
