Year 11 Outdoor Education

Sarah Quilty —

What a term it was for Outdoor Ed. It saw the team work vigorously through their Map and Navigation Unit, to be prepared for three big days of tramping.

The first day brought torrential rain and howling winds as students neared the top of Mt Te Aroha. Otanewainuku brought ideal conditions and Mr Finnimore was initiated on his first trip with the team. On the last day of term, we ventured into the Kaimai Ranges, again with ideal conditions. What a great way to end the term, especially when you come out at the wrong road and need to be picked up! We love surprises and that's what student led trips are all about... A big thanks to Lisa Corbett and Juliet Dunlop- Fraser for also joining us.Semester B has welcomed a few new students to OED and is going to be adventure packed with the class off to Taupo for High/Low Ropes, Waitomo Caves and finishing off the year completing the canopy tour in Rotorua.
