Big Night out at the Movies

Johnelle Toma —

Katikati College is having a movie night this September. This event is part of Western Bay Of Plenty District Council’s ‘Love Food Hate Waste Campaign’ - aimed at reducing food waste, saving families money and giving you tools to get the most out of your food.

We all love food. As a society, we devour countless cooking shows, culinary magazines and foodie bags. So how could we possibly be throwing out nearly 50% of it in the trash?

We’ll be watching the multi award winning documentary ‘Just Eat It’ - a 74 minute documentary film about food waste and food rescue by Peg Leg Films in partnership with British Columbia’s Knowledge Network.

The event will be held in the school hall where there will be food and drinks available in exchange for a can of food. All cans will be donated to our local food bank. Be in to win a trolley full of groceries from our local Four Square and lots of other spot prizes on the night.

So come along with your whanau and friends and enjoy a night out at the movies!
