Audioquake rocks the stage at Bandquest

Philip Cranston —

The Bay of Plenty finals of the nationwide Bandquest competition was held on Wednesday 29th August. Katikati College was represented by "Audioquake", a rock band that consists of Year 8 students Joel Cunningham (drums), Max Stone (bass), and Flynn Cranston (vocals & guitar).

Bandquest is the junior version of the Smokefree Rockquest and brings together bands from around the country to perform and compete in a professionally organised event.
"Audioquake" was in great form on the night and their recent performances at school assemblies have clearly helped them develop a strong stage presence and remarkably powerful sound for a young three-piece band. They performed two songs: "Little Monster "(Royal Blood) and "Renegade Fighter" (Zed). Although they didn’t take out the top prize, the band was a crowd favourite and impressed the organisers and sponsors. The band still came away with something to celebrate when Flynn Cranston won the ‘Best Individual Musicianship’ award from among the 100 musicians on the night. Well done boys!
