Lest we forget

Simon Finnimore —

To celebrate ANZAC Day we came together as a school to commemorate in an hour long memorial service, the great sacrifice that our brave men and women gave to serve our country and fight for our freedom.

Staff Sergeant Wayne Wanakore from the New Zealand Defence Force delivered an inspirational speech to students and teachers about the importance of school, discipline, patriotism and about how his teachers at school inspired him to push for his dream job in the New Zealand Armed Forces. He was amazing to listen to and students were spellbound.

We recited the Ode, played the Last Post and paid our respects to the fallen from Katikati, as well as those from elsewhere in New Zealand and internationally.

Staff Sergeant Linsey Tompsett lead a group of army cadets from the Western Bay Of Plenty Cadet Unit in a small parade at the assembly. These cadets played an integral part in our celebration and we'd like to thank them for their contribution.
