Another world-class win for Science students

Nicola Wynne —

College results in the recent EducationPerfect Science Championships were even better than last year!

Katikati College was placed first in the world for a school of its size and second in New Zealand overall in the annual 2017 EducationPerfect Science Championships. We were also 8th in the world out of the 1,281 schools entered in the international competition. This year we were placed first in the world again for our size and 7th overall in the world.

Year 9 and 10 students took part in the week-long online competition in which they answered questions from all aspects of Science, earning points for those they answered correctly.

One hundred and eight Katikati College students were awarded certificates for achieving over 500 points, with one student, Rory Robertson, receiving for the second year in a row an Elite Award for achieving over 10,000 points.  Ten students gained Emerald (5,000 points), seven  Gold (3,000 points), 21 Silver (2,000), 27 Bronze (1,000) and 42 Credit (500 points). Well done to all of you!
