From the Music Department

Sonia Bullot —

Lots of exciting things have been happening musically throughout Term One within our classroom and beyond.

Our goal of making the Arts more visual in our school and community is well underway with the intention of sharing our music with others for people's enjoyment creating a positive creative environment and normalising the idea of ‘putting yourself out there’.

Music students have been performing at assemblies, lunchtimes and even in the staffroom and once we are back at school more of these pop-up concerts will feature along with performances downtown to connect with our community.

In times of crisis music has always played an important part in our global society. An essential platform for raising people’s awareness, uniting people, lifting spirits and personal wellbeing. This is through listening and performing. Even non-musicians are singing, creating rhythms with whatever they have and using music to come together in solidarity for the greater good, whether it is connecting with your bubble whanau, neighbours across the fence or linking in with others over the internet.

Many orchestras, musicians, art galleries and theatres have opened their doors in the virtual world online and have many interesting performances or concerts that you can watch or explore over this time. Check out the link and take virtual tours of stages from around the world.
