$1,500 was kindly donated to the Katikati Innovative Horticulture Trust by Rural Women New Zealand Region 5 last week.

Mrs Pentecost and Mrs Johnson were delighted to accept the cheque from Pat Williams, Jenny Turner and Sue Vowell, representing a region spanning from the top of the Coromandel to Gisborne.  

Their letter accompanying the cheque recognised the strength of the horticulture industry in the Bay of Plenty and said how encouraging it was to see that the Innovative Horticulture programme not only benefits children with learning, social skills and employment, but will ultimately also  build strong rural communities and strong rural leaders for the future.
