A team of talented Year 7 & 8 Athletes went to the next level in athletics on Wednesday 23rd November to compete against the other Year 7 & 8’s from the Bay of Plenty Colleges (Yr 7-13 schools).

Once again it was a beautiful day but the hot weather did mean that the Domain Athletics Track was very hard on bare feet with blisters and burns keeping the First Aid tent busy. The Katikati athletes produced some stunning results with top athletes Daniel and Sean Nicholson, Jess Harray and Nikolai Frandi again performing at their best along with record breaking performances from Tomasi Vakasiuola and Daniel Nicholson.

The Year 7 relay team of Danielle McCormick, La Toya Ma, Zac Arundel and Luke Spurr ran a fantastic relay to come in 3rd due to the excellent 3rd leg on the bend run by Zac and the Year 8 team of Jacob Maloni, Abby Corbett, Hana Briggs and Dandre Du Plessis also pulled off a brilliant race with Du Plessis' strength on the home straight driving them into bronze medal place.

Three athletes gained overall placings with Daniel Nicholson 2nd= in the Year 7 Boys’ Competition, Sean Nicholson 3rd= in the Year 7 Boys’ and Jess Harray 3rd= in Year 8 Girls’ Competition.
