Cross Country success

Juliet Dunlop Fraser —

The final round of cross country took place recently in Kaharoa with five runners from Katikati College competing against 400 runners from across the Bay.

MacKenzie Walter, Destinee Benge, Benji Arundel, Miles Jonson and Daniel Pollard competed against a very high calibre of runners and the tough hilly farm course saw some wonderful performances. The Katikati students were absolute stars with MacKenzie bringing home a bronze medal, her best finish this year at the highest level. Destinee was close behind in 7th for Year 8 Girls. Daniel ran a great race to finish 10th in Year 7 boys with Miles finishing 14th, and Benji came in 16th in the very fast Year 8 Boys race. Each race had about 45 competitors, proving how very good our young runners are.
