It is a busy term ahead for our Year 11-13 students. Three key events this term are:

Horticulture at Katikati College has changed to offer a modular, flexible and future-focused programme of learning that can really take students places in the many career paths available in this amazingly diverse, growing industry, or in other industries where innovation is key.

Katikati College sent a team of twelve students and four adults across the ditch to represent our kura in the annual Gold Coast Netball Tournament for the first time ever.

NZKGI and Zespri recently provided an exciting opportunity for some of our students.

Local iconic business Kings Seeds celebrates its 40th birthday this year.

Every three weeks we hold a whole school assembly in the Action Centre. This is a time when we celebrate students' achievements, talents and successes.

A group of Katikati College students, staff and family members manned the tree-minding service at the BOP Tree Crops annual tree sale in July.

Year 13 Dean, Nicola Wynne, had the pleasure of attending the Dale Carnegie award ceremony. Three students, Hanna Maloni, Shaandeep Singh and Jessie Garrett learnt so much about themselves and leadership.

On Monday June 25 Culture Week kicked off with an evening of celebration of Matariki. The night began with a delicious fundraising hangi. We were then entertained with performances by senior kapahaka, Pourua kapahaka, Aiga and a combined performance.

Last term Year 12 student Aesha Modi was selected to participate in Entrepreneurs in Action, a Lion Foundation Young Enterprise scheme. Here she shares her thoughts on the experience.

Year 13 student Katie McCormick recently achieved 2nd Degree Black Belt, (Nidan grading), in Karate.

June 26 saw our annual Lip Sync Competition in the College hall. This year it was part of our first Culture Week celebration and had a new format.

One of the many activities in the recent of Culture Week was the chalk art competition.

The annual Waihi College/Katikati College exchange took place on Monday July 2 this year and though conditions started a little cold and damp, the competition was hot.
