The annual Pasifika Fiefia Night was a night of celebration, colour and togetherness!

NCEA exams run from Wednesday November 7 to Friday November 30.

The Bay of Plenty finals of the nationwide Bandquest competition was held on Wednesday 29th August. Katikati College was represented by "Audioquake", a rock band that consists of Year 8 students Joel Cunningham (drums), Max Stone (bass), and Flynn Cranston (vocals & guitar).

As a school, over the last 10+ years we have been increasing the use of digital technology in all learning areas. We see digital technology as being an effective tool that will allow teachers and students to further develop their learning.

In Week 7 our Tongan students were so blessed to share their cultures with the children from Learning Adventures, Biggles and Katikati Primary School.

On Saturday September 8 we were pleased to host one of the four local rounds of robotics scrimmages. The event was held in the College hall and was well attended by a number of schools and students from the House of Science.

Another TOI-OHOMAI course starts in Katikati soon.

As we reported in the last newsletter the First XV Rugby team played the 2nd Division Final against Tauhora College in Rotorua on August 18 and although they did not win (29-24) they did really well.

Stella Hamilton-Wallace was the sole representative from Katikati College at the BOP Snowboarding Championships on August 13 at Turoa.

The Netball season is now completed and it has been a very successful season for Katikati College.

College results in the recent EducationPerfect Science Championships were even better than last year!

Katikati College 1st X1 girls hockey team travelled to Napier to complete in the Mary Clinton cup for Winter Tournament Week. This tournament was the ultimate test for this young team which has nine new players this year.

Congratulations to Oscar Dowson, a student at Katikati College from 2005-2010.

On Saturday 29th September the Waihi Lions Club is holding a charity dinner in the Waihi Beach Community Centre. The proceeds for the evening will go to the Waihi St John Ambulance Building fund.

Katikati College is involved again this year. Come and have a look and support us.

Get ready for summer!

With encouragement a few Senior Music students entered the Lion Foundation Song Writing competition.

On August 24 Katikati College took four bands to the Waikato Band Festival held at Waikato University's Gallagher Performing Arts Centre.

On Saturday the 1st of September, Kiadio Ryu Martial Arts Club had their first tournament in a few years.
