Ann Townsend
Katikati Primary School proudly honours Ann Townsend as she retires after 27 years of exceptional service.
Ann's journey began in Term 2 of 1997 with a Year 4 class. She soon moved to teaching Year 5/6 as a Team Leader, guiding her team with remarkable leadership and organising memorable camps to Auckland.
Ann returned to teach Year 4 while simultaneously studying for her Degree in ESOL, later stepping out of the classroom to focus on ESOL teaching and funding programs. Her adaptability shone as she took on various roles, including CRT teacher and classroom teacher for Year 5/6, demonstrating versatility and commitment to meeting the school's needs.
Over the years, Ann made significant contributions by securing funding for the school mural (picture below) and greenhouse, leading ICT initiatives, organising teacher relievers, and training EPro8 students. The EPro8 Challenge is an inter-school science and engineering competition involving over 35,000 students from throughout New Zealand annually.
Ann’s retirement marks the end of an era at Katikati Primary. Her numerous contributions have left a lasting legacy, and she will be deeply missed. We wish Ann all the best in her retirement and thank her for her outstanding service to our school community.
