News from the Library

Laura the Librarian —

What a fabulous week celebrating books and reading and our community.

Visiting Authors

We were very fortunate to have two visiting authors organised by Read NZ.

For the Years 4, 5 and 6, the inspiring David Riley, aka the Reading Warrior, spoke about growing seeds inside themselves and challenging them to try their best. I think everyone took something away with them. David's goal is to get young people reading, to inspire them with positive and inspirational stories from New Zealand and the Pacific … and to encourage them to write their own stories.https://readingwarrior.com/

For the Years 1, 2 and 3, the amazingly talented Stephanie Thatcher shared her artwork, models and read her glorious picture book to the three year levels. She coached the tamariki in drawing kiwis, wetas, penguins, pigs and pirates. https://www.read-nz.org/writer/thatcher-stephanie/

We are lucky to have many of both author's books in the library that can be borrowed.

Potato Book Character Competition

We are blown away by the creativity of our tamariki with their amazing potato book characters! These are bringing much fun and joy to our kura and judging these will be very tough!

Book Parade

We had an amazing Book Parade. It was so much fun seeing all the costumes and everyone enjoying this special Kaurilands event.
