Walking School Bus

Alana McKenzie —

Kaurilands School are looking for parents and children to join a walking school bus. Walking school buses are run by parents/caregivers/grandparents from the school community with the support of the school and Auckland Transport. Currently we have a walking school bus that goes from Highland Ave, into Derwent Cres then Chamari Close. Other locations depending on parent interest could be from Pleasant Road, Captain Scott Road, Konini Road, Daffodil Street or Woodfern Crescent.

A walking school bus is an organised group of children walking to and/or from school under the supervision of adults. Children are collected from stops or a parking spot along a planned route and walk together to the school gate. Along the way they learn road safety, socialise and share stories with friends and neighbours and arrive energised at school.

Families in the community get to know each other. What a great way to travel to school!

If you are interested in joining the existing walking school bus or starting a new one, please complete this google form.
