News from the Library

Laura the Librarian —

So far this month nearly 7,000 books have been borrowed ! Amazing reading by our tamariki. We have been talking about looking after our books with each class, as unfortunately we have had a run of water damaged books. If any library books get damaged at home, please bring them back to our library as soon as possible.

We recently celebrated Neurodiversity Week in the library and read the wonderful book all week,  "Some Brains - a book celebrating neurodiversity" by Nelly Thomas. This helped to introduce us to the topic and celebrate. We have a growing collection of books with neurodiverse characters. We also have been talking about out Dyslexic Friendly Books in our library. Students can find these books by looking for the orange dot on the spine. These are awesome books that use a mix of paper colour, font and illustrations to make reading easier for children with dyslexia.
