Kim Williams/Tracey Henderson —

What a year! What have we been up to in Room 10?

In Term One we went on a trip to the Maritime Museum as part of our Inquiry based on ‘Journeys’. We also found out about our whakapapa and wrote our pepeha. We designed, built and tested a waka. We spent lots of time with our Room 19 buddies, the Easter hunt and Christmas activities being a highlight.

In June we were involved in the successful attempt at the Largest human image of a bicycle, the video clip of which went viral! We visited the Tread Lightly Caravan, investigated the science of our school stream and bush and celebrated Matariki.

During Term 3 we visited Te Uru and did lots of fantastic Art.

The highlight of Term 4  Inquiry was the school camp at Motu Moana where we abseiled, rock climbed, played on the water slide, flying fox and cooked on camp fires. Also during Term 4 we did skateboarding, Footsteps dancing, surf to school and had a visit from Tornado Tammy. We were also lucky enough to win the Readathon Reward day.

This year we farewelled Millie Mae and Benjamin and welcomed Immanuel and Galaxy to Kaurilands School. Miss Johnstone was our fabulous student teacher who spent 6 weeks over the year with us.

These wonderful children are going to make fantastic Year 5 students. We have had an amazing, fun, memorable year! He waka eke noa! We were all in this together!
