Room 25 — Jul 27, 2020

Rūma Rua Tekau mā rima have loved being back at school so far this term!  We have been learning about Matariki, the Māori New Year.  Kites are commonly flown during Matariki to celebrate the beginning of the new year and also to connect Ranginui – the sky father and Papatūānuku – the earth mother, together.  To learn more, we read the book The Seven Kites of Matariki by Calico McClintock and Dominique Ford.  Just like the seven sisters in the story we decided to decorate our own beautiful Matariki kites!  Here are our manu tukutuku (kites) flying on our classroom window.
