Kaurilands School

Principal's Message

Jo Augustine - November 21, 2024

Kia ora e te whānau

As I am writing the Year 3 cohort are all over the school enjoying a range of outdoor education activities to follow on from last night's sleepover in the hall. It is wonderful to have so many parents actively involved in everything going on. In the next newsletter we will have pictures from this epic experience. Thanks to the Year 3 team and Erin for organising and running such a successful and engaging event. I'm sure everyone involved will sleep well tonight!

We have 4 weeks of school left in 2024! This will be a very busy and fun time for our children as we head towards the 20th December. Just a couple of things to note: School finishes on Friday 20th December at 1pm. All children will go to visit their new classes between 10.30-11am to meet their new teachers and classmates. Our final assembly will begin at 11.30am and children will go back to class after this to finish the day.

If your child/children are leaving Kaurilands School (not Year 6) at the end of this year please let us know asap for planning purposes. Please also let us know if you have a child starting in 2025 if you have not already done so. We are in the process of finalising staffing for 2025 and will shortly begin organising our 2025 classes.

When school finishes for the year we have a building project ready to commence! We are converting our current Resource Room and teacher workroom into 2 classrooms and moving the Resource Room etc into where Rooms 6 & 7 currently operate. This project will begin in the holidays and continue throughout Term 1. As a result of this work all our classrooms will be in use from the start of the year meaning we will need to bring in a couple of containers for storage. We are working out the best place for these to be situated. Once again we will be working around a building site! I will have more details about this in the next newsletter.

Finally, congratulations to all our Principal's Award winners from Wednesday's mid term assembly. We are so proud of you all for being amazing Kaurilands citizens!

I look forward to seeing you all around school over these next 4 weeks.
