Room 9 in 2017

Linda Heckler —

What a great year we had in Room 9!

Our Term 1 Inquiry centred around 'Journeys', where we explored our family histories, immigration to New Zealand and then designed and built rafts and gliders.  In Term 2 we had an 'Eye on Nature' and visited the Tread Lightly Caravan, investigated the science of our school stream and bush and celebrated Matariki.  'In the Spotlight' led to The Arts being our Term 3 focus with shows, visits to Te Uru and lots of Art and Drama. In Term 4 our Inquiry was 'The Great Outdoors' with camp, lots of outdoor activities, sport and a focus on keeping safe while being active outside.  This year we farewelled Campbell and welcomed Te Awhero to Kaurilands School.  Miss Ensor was our fabulous student teacher who spent more than ten weeks with us over the year.  Of course, we can't forget our exciting move to Ahi Kaa in Term 4 - we are pretty lucky to have had such a beautiful room to finish the year in.  This great bunch of children have been a delight to spend 2017 with and are all more than ready for the adventures of Year 5.
