News from Room 3a

Laura —

The love for all things Maths has been shining through in Room 3a! In Term 3 we have been busy gathering statistical data about our favourite foods, dinosaurs, favourite movies, birthday months, favourite shoes and anime programmes to mention just a few! The surveys have provided some fascinating results and the students are enthusiastically creating bar graphs and pie charts to represent all their hard work in research. Combining our survey data, maths knowledge and digital design knowledge we have created some stunning work.

Our love of Maths sees no number or idea left unexplored and the students of 3a have been creating maths videos to explain their thinking to teach others. We are also reading a class novel all about the miscalculations of Lightening Girl with a genius-level maths talent and her love of Pi, patterns in Maths and the Fibonacci sequence in nature.

The class decided to explore the perimeter of their own names by measuring and calculating the distance around the outside of our names and have created beautiful mathematical personalised artwork.

We look forward to even more exciting Maths explorations for the rest of the year!
