'SARAPU CUP' CHESS TOURNAMENT

Christoph Thurner —

Eight of Kaurilands Chess team members and their (grand)parents braved the weather on Sunday 12th March and made it to the Auckland Bridge Club for the second Sarapu Cup tournament.

Seven members of our school's Chess team  played in the Pawns Divisions and one member played in the Knights. The top performers were Anya Thurner in the Knights, winning the Best Girl and Best Under 10 categories and Sofia Witten-Hannah in the Pawns division, finishing 3rd out of 39 players and winning Best Girl and Best Under 12 categories. The team had a lot of fun especially in the Lolly Scramble following the Prizegiving.
