LOCKDOWN

Recently, Kaurilands School engaged the services of an independent company, Harrison Tew, who specialise in emergency management planning for schools. The procedures developed by Harrison Tew allow us to respond safely and quickly to a range of circumstances.

Next Wednesday 4th September 2019, our school will be undertaking a Lockdown practice at 10.00am.

Training has been conducted with all staff. The students will also receive training in their age groups from Harrison Tew prior to the practice on Wednesday morning. The children are likely to be told that we may need to to go into lockdown for a range of circumstances such as a swarm of bees or an aggressive dog loose on site.

The exercise will be as real-life as possible, which will mean that parents/families will receive notification by way of email via Linc-Ed. The email you will receive will emphasise that this is an exercise/practice and that all further communication will be posted on our website.

During the lockdown practice or in a real lockdown situation your natural instinct will be to rush to school. Please DO NOT do this. This is the advice we have been given from Harrison Tew and the Police.

We thank you for your support.

Food Fair Friday 15th November 2019 - 5.00-8.00pm

Coming up in November Te Whānau Āwhina (our parent support group) are organising our inaugural Food Fair. This is a massive undertaking and we hope we get huge support from our community for this event.

                                        BUT!  WE NEED YOUR HELP!

At this stage we have a number of food stalls being organised by whānau which is fantastic but we need more! We would love to have representation from the many diverse communities at our school in offering food from a range of cultures.

If you are able to organise a group of whānau to set up a food stall or help in any way, please contact Xanthe Smythe email: xanthesmythe@gmail.com for all the details.

We have been donated some fantastic items for raffles but we would love to have more!

Please contact Xanthe (see above) if you are able to gift us any suitable products or services we could raffle.

At the moment we have a small, incredibly dedicated group of helpers spending many hours on preparation. We would SO appreciate more of you.

Please come along to a meeting in the staffroom on Monday 9th September at 7.00pm if you are interested in helping us with the Food Fair in any way big or small. We need lots of you to help us!!!
