Principal's Message

Jo Augustine —

Kia ora e te whānau

I have some news to share with you all about some of our staff.

Georgia Martin, our PE and Sport Co-ordinator has resigned and will be leaving us at the end of the term to take up a position at an International School in Cairo! This is a very exciting opportunity for Georgia but sad for us. Georgia started in this role for us last year and has done an outstanding job creating the role from scratch. Georgia has worked with all our children across all levels teaching PE and has worked with multiple sports teams and codes. For the two years prior, Georgia was a member of the Year 4 team of teachers.

Abby Skeen, our Year 5 Team Leader and teacher of Room 4a is also leaving us at the end of this term to travel overseas. Abby has taught with us for the last seven and a half years and has been a Team Leader in both Year 2 and 5. Abby has been an integral member of our staff and we will miss her so much!

Both Abby and Georgia will be hugely missed. They have both been fantastic staff members and talented teachers. I know our children and staff will be very sad they are leaving but we wish them the very best for their overseas adventures!

Rebecca Barrett, our Year 3 Team Leader and co-teacher of Room 13 has very exciting news as well. She is pregnant and will be leaving us to go on maternity leave potentially at the end of Week 4 Term 3 depending on how things are going for her. We will keep you informed. Huge congratulations to Rebecca and Josh!

I will let everyone know the replacement staff shortly. In the meantime let's enjoy the time we have with these three wonderful teachers!

Whānau hui

Last night we celebrated a wonderful whānau hui. Thanks to those many whānau who came along to share with us. I would like to particularly thank our Māori Curriculum Team - Kim Williams, Alana McKenzie, Stacey Anyan and Jennifer Koelet for organising and preparing this event.

In the next newsletter we will share photos and writing about the preparation for this event by some of our tamariki.
