Hāpū Tahi have loved 2017.

The combination of Y5 and Y6 ākonga in our classrooms have brought variety and fun to our learning.  Everyone in our Hapū has had lots of opportunities to develop new friendships and work collaboratively with others.  We have had two successful camps during the year; in February the Y6 ākonga spent a week at Finlay Park Camp in Cambridge and in May the Y5 ākonga spent two nights at Carey Park Camp in West Auckland.  We learnt about the power of having a growth mindset during Term 1.  This was followed by an inquiry into the workings of the brain during Terms 2 and 3.  Many of our students planned and taught their own workshops and in Term 4 some Y8 GEIS ākonga came to teach us about curiousity through science.  We will miss our Y6 whānau as they head off to Intermediate next year and we look forward to seeing our Y5 ākonga continue to blossom in 2018.
