Chess Players Wanted (and drivers too)

Hi all

The Chess Tournament season is about to start for Kaurilands School Teams with the first two tournaments in May.  These are:

1.     Tue 08/05/18: Chess Power Cluster Tournament, Fruitvale School, 9 Croydon Road, New Lynn

2.      Fri 25/05/18: New Zealand Chess Federation West Auckland Primaries, Henderson North School, 14 Norval Road, Henderson.

In the first tournament the children will play on an individual basis and the best 4 results will be added up for the team score, so we don’t really need to worry how many children are playing (last year there were about 10). You can find more information here:

The second tournament will be played in fixed teams of 4 players (and potentially 1 reserve). I would like to take 2 teams there.  The official invitation is attached.

So if your children would like to play in one or both of the tournaments they should come to the Tuesday’s lunchtime Tournament Kids training in the hall.  They can also practice in Thursday’s lunchtime Chess Club with Hamish, beginners are welcome there too!

We will also need some parents to drive the children to and from the tournaments. We usually leave between 8.30 and 8.45am and the tournaments finish around 2.15pm.
