Principal's Message

Jo Augustine —

Kia ora e te whānau

The end is close! What a year! Thank you all so much for being the most wonderful school community ever! You make our jobs so rewarding and we love working with you to deliver the best possible experience for our children. Huge thanks to our staff for the work they have put into their 2023 classes. We are truly lucky to have such a talented bunch here at Kaurilands!

This week we say farewell to Kylie Inancsi who has been a teacher aide with us for the last eight years. We appreciate the amazing work Kylie has contributed and wish her well in her next job at Blockhouse Bay Intermediate.

We also farewell Sarah Radcliffe who has been the Year 5 team leader and teacher for the last two terms. Sarah is moving on to Pt Chevalier School into a larger leadership role. We wish her all the best for her next step.

Thank you again to Te Whānau Āwhina for the tremendous fundraising effort this year. I think this group has set an all time record and we are incredibly grateful to this small group who have achieved so much.

Thanks to our Board of Trustees who work behind the scenes mostly ensuring our school is run to it's best possible potential. We have an extremely supportive and talented bunch of Trustees and our school is in very good hands.

Sadly, we have to farewell our current chair, Nick Summerfield, in January. Nick has been a tower of strength for me and all of us during some tough times, particularly COVID. Nick has been available to help me navigate every situation that arises with wisdom and humour. I will be forever grateful for the gift of time and energy Nick has contributed to Kaurilands School and he will be sorely missed. Arohanui Nick. Thank you for everything.

In 2024, we welcome some new staff, Nichola Leslie as the Year 6 team leader, Stephen Gillard and Fran McBeath also into the Year 6 team; Mike Fenner as the Year 5 team leader and Kirsten Fraser into the Year 4 team. We look forward to working with all our new staff.

We wish the very best of luck to our new mothers to be - Shannon Payne, Sarah Muthiah and Lucy McHardy. We will miss you all!

To our Year 6 leavers and any children leaving to go elsewhere, we will miss you, we are proud of you, we love you.

Reminder that school closes at 1pm on Wednesday 20th December!

On either Wednesday 31st January and Thursday 1st February we invite you to visit your children's 2024 classrooms between 1pm-3pm. We are holding these open afternoons to give you the opportunity to meet the teachers and see where your children will be next year.

We wish you all a safe and happy summer and Christmas season and look forward to seeing you in 2024.

Arohanui

Jo
